هكذا نوصف رؤية النجوم في سماء السلطنة وتحديداً في محمية الحجر الغربي لأضواء النجوم التي تُعتبر الأولى من نوعها في الجزيرة العربية، وفقاً لما ذكره الموقع الرسمي لوزارة الإعلام - سلطنة عُمان، وتهدف المحمية لحماية السماء من آثار التلوث الضوئي الناتج عن الاستخدام المتزايد الأضواء الخارجية.

كما يوجد داخل الوادي عدد من التلال والهضاب ويصب في بحر العرب، كما يوجد داخل الوادي شلال إرتفاعه ١٠٠ متراً وهو شلال موسمي لا يجري إلا في فصل الخريف حيث تمطر بغزارة.

كلّ عام، يقام في المدينة مهرجان صلالة السياحي الشهير في الخريف الذي يضم قرية للتسوق العائلي ومنطقة الألعاب الكهربائية والهوائية والقرية التراثية ومطاعم ومعارض، ويتميز بعروضه الموسيقية والثقافية، ويشتمل على عروض حيّة مــن الفن العماني والرقصات الشعبية المحلية والفنون التراثية، إضافة إلى الحفلات الغنائية الساهرة والعروض الرياضية. وتنطلق هذه الاحتفالية عادة من ١١ يوليو ولغاية ٢٢ أغسطس.

يُشير مصطلح "خريف صلالة" إلى فترة الخريف التي تمر بها مدينة صلالة الواقعة في الجهة الجنوبية من محافظة ظفار في سلطنة عمان؛ ففي فترة الخريف تكتسي أراضي صلالةَ بثوب الطبيعة الأخضر، وينتشر الضباب بين المرتفعات، كما تهطل الأمطار عليها بشكل متواصل على مدار اليوم كاملاً تقريباً.

The name "Salalah’s Fall" refers to the autumnal season that the city of Salalah, which is situated in the southern region of the Sultanate of Oman's Dhofar Governorate, experiences. تتميز مدينة صلالة بظاهرة مناخية فريدة من نوعها تحوّل المنطقة بكاملها الى جنّة استوائية، حيث يعيش زوار المدينة موسم الخريف في فصل الصيف، مكان أخضر يلفّه الضباب من كلّ اتجاه، وتتلوّن الطبيعة، ويكتسح اللون الأخضر السهول، في مشهد خيالي. وعادة ما يمتدّ “خريف صلالة” من منتصف شهر يونيو وحتى نهاية سبتمبر، وهو بذلك يشكّل عامل جذب مهم، لا سيّما بالنسبة إلى سكان المنطقة العربية الذين يعيشون طقساً حاراً في فصل الصيف.

Salalah is known for a unique climatic phenomenon that transforms the entire region into a tropical paradise, with visitors to the city living in the fall season in the summer, a green spot surrounded by fog from all directions, and the green hue sweeps the plains in a wonderful scene. The "Salalah Autumn" normally lasts from mid-June until the end of September, and it's a big draw, especially for people of the Arab world who have to deal with sweltering temperatures in the summer.
